The Province is urging people to take caution and follow safety protocols this Thanksgiving Long Weekend and Hallowe’en too.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore says this long weekend looks different from last year’s, but the need to keep safe remains.
“No one should attend Thanksgiving or other social gathering if they are sick – even if people have mild symptoms – please stay home and get tested,” he said.
Moore urges people to stick to gathering limits. He said vaccinated people could remove their masks indoors if others there are vaccinated, but in settings involving vaccinated and unvaccinated people, it’s recommended people stay masked.
As for Hallowe’en, Moore says trick or treating should take place outdoors as much as possible and to be creative and fashion a face-covering into a costume design – but remember a costume mask is no substitute for a proper face covering.
“Do not overcrowd the doorsteps, take turns and keep interactions brief – maintain physical distancing as much as possible,” he said.
Moore says to make your events as safe as possible.
