Stop me if you’ve heard this before….
Major Series Lacrosse has approved Owen Sound as a franchise location, effective and official as of last week, with the first season with Owen Sound as a Major entry to commence in 2022.
Put quite simply, the M.S.L. and the Owen Sound operation could not wait a second longer to commence their preparation for next season.
The preparations have been delayed and bogged down by a tiny group of wizards connected to the former Brampton Excelsiors franchise who dispute Joe Norton’s status as owner of that franchise and Norton’s right to shift the franchise from struggling-to-survive Brampton to waiting-with-open-arms Owen Sound.
Give the Brampton contingent credit, though. While they appear to be the kind of dunderheads who would wait for the Great Pumpkin each year, they’ve managed to delay the process time and again. In fact, in late Summer, the Ontario Lacrosse Association seemingly sided with the Brampton scenario and put the process in limbo….again.
Which brings us to last week.
It’s important to distinguish that Major Series Lacrosse approved the shift to Owen Sound and NOT the Ontario Lacrosse Association.
In an interview with Bayshore Broadcasting, Joe Norton was asked if O.L.A. approval was required…
…….So reading between the lines, does this indicate there’s more legal wrangling ahead with the O.L.A. and the Polyannas in Brampton tag teaming against Major Series Lacrosse & Owen Sound ?
Or does it suggest that Major Series Lacrosse is prepared to break away from the O.L.A. and run their own show ?
What’s next in this never ending circle ?
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
