There’s a vacancy for a new councillor on Tiny Township Council.
Council has issued a Call for Nominees for the position, and the appointment would be for the balance of the Council term until November 14, 2022.
Interested qualified individuals must complete and submit a Council Vacancy Application Form, Nomination Endorsement Form (25 signatures) and a Declaration of Qualifications Form to the Clerk’s Office.
A candidate for municipal office must be a qualified municipal elector as set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and fulfill all of the following requirements:
• Resides in or be the owner or tenant of land in Township of Tiny, or the spouse
of such owner or tenant;
• Is a Canadian citizen;
• Is at least 18 years old; and,
• Is not prohibited from voting under Section 17(3) of the Municipal Elections Act,
1996 or otherwise by law.
Prior to submitting an application, interested individuals should refer to the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for further details relating to the required qualifications.
Any qualified individual may submit the requisite forms, along with the required identification, in person and by appointment only, to the Clerk or designate during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Municipal Office, 130 Balm Beach Road West, Tiny, Ontario.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, an appointment must be scheduled with the Clerk or designate.
Certified registered Candidates will be afforded the opportunity to address Council for a period of not more than ten (10) minutes and will be asked questions of Council in an open Public Meeting to be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. in a virtual Council meeting.
The successful candidate will be appointed by by-law that evening and will be required to take the Declaration of Office on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Regular Meeting of Council.
