A flag raising ceremony is being held in Barrie today to recognize the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Mayor Jeff Lehman with representatives from the Barrie Native Friendship Centre and Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin will be in attendance for the flag-raising at City Hall at 1 o’clock this afternoon.
The City of Barrie will also commemorate Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Thursday, by supporting community events while promoting education and awareness to ensure that the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools are never forgotten.
This morning, staff tended to & cleaned the Spirit Catcher area in advance of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation (Sept 30). Shoes were moved a section at a time & placed back immediately after cleaning took place. Visit https://t.co/v1w0TQhQl7 for resources & events. pic.twitter.com/ii0K9sBfAv
