Life-long Lake of Bays residents Karen Girling and Bruce MacLellan today announced a $120,000 gift to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation in support of the Focus on Imaging Capital Campaign.
Their generous donation, one of many by them over the last 25 years, gives the hospital team the flexibility to upgrade the imaging and diagnostics technology that is so important to treatment and care here.
“As multi-generation residents of this area, many of our family members have found themselves in Huntsville Hospital being treated for various illnesses and accidents,” says Bruce MacLellan. “We know firsthand the importance of both top-notch equipment and the skilled professionals who depend on it.”
“Technology is the future of high-quality medicine. By investing in the best technology, Huntsville Hospital attracts the best team, who in turn provide all of us with the best care. “We want to see this level of care in Muskoka sustained for everyone who comes to this beautiful place to live, work or play.” Karen is a member of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation Board. “Bruce and I are pleased to make this inaugural Board leadership donation.”
The Focus on Imaging Capital Campaign is a three-year Foundation initiative with an objective of raising $5million for diagnostics and imaging technology upgrades and improvements in the Imaging
Department. Over $2 million has been raised so far as the campaign moves into high gear starting with this year’s 105.5 Moose FM Radiothon on October 8, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
“Karen and Bruce have long been amazing supporters of this community and specifically Huntsville Hospital,” says Katherine Craine, Executive Director of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. “We count on them and they never let us down. Improving diagnostics and imaging technology gives our local healthcare team the capacity for more accurate analysis and treatment, often leading to faster recovery times. Karen and Bruce have given our team the gift of improving care at this hospital long into the future.”
The Huntsville Hospital Foundation inspires donations and raises funds to help Huntsville Hospital purchase technology and equipment not funded by taxes. Staying in step with changing and evolving medicine helps the hospital attract and retain the best expertise while sustaining its position as one of the leading community hospitals in Ontario. Last year 1,780 donors in the Huntsville Hospital catchment area helped raise well over $4 million for healthcare for life, here.
