A 19 year old man is looking for a new way to travel, after his Audi was impounded by Huronia West OPP.
Police say the Audi was caught going well above the 50 km/hr speed zone on Sandy Coast Circle early Sunday morning, when an officer was able to track down the vehicle and take the driver into custody.
The resulting investigation of the driver and vehicle has led up to the following charges being issued against 19 year old Samuel McLean of Burlington, by the investigating officer:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Flight from peace officer
Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada - Race a motor vehicle-Stunt
- Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act - Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
The accused was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on N ovember 2, 2021.
In addition, the Audi was impounded for 7 days along with receiving an instant 90 day driver’s licence suspension as per the conditions set out in the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS).
