Over the course of the last few days, if you were looking, you would have noticed a larger than usual number of visitors and heavily logo’d vehicles in the city of Owen Sound
These visitors were primarily representing Sportsnet and Scotiabank, doing a site examination and holding a sequence of get-togethers connected to Hockey Day in Canada.
Hockey Day in Canada climaxes on Saturday January 29th with more than a dozen hours of NHL Hockey TV time, but in reality, the days leading into January 29th will be extremely active for Owen Sound.
Over the last 3 days, the TV & bank leaders have been at Scotiabank, at Grey Roots, at The Roxy, at Central Place, at various schools in the Bluewater District, and naturally at the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre and at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre examining the halls and the JD McArthur Arena.
That’s a lot of places to examine.
But preparation is everything for a function like Hockey Day.
In the days leading up to the TV production, there will be receptions, banquets, live music, school visits, hockey clinics, tournaments and more all leading to a full day of NHL Hockey featuring all 7 Canadian NHL teams with the broadcast headquarters for the day being Owen Sound, Ontario.
If you missed the inspection this week, make a note not to miss Hockey Day in Canada in late January.
