Springwater Council has passed a motion to name the Elmvale & District Food Bank building after local businessperson and Lion’s Club member Michael Stone.
He was instrumental in the founding of the Food Bank in the 1970s and has been a constant community advocate for it ever since.
Mr. Stone became Chair of the Board of Directors when the Food Bank incorporated in 2016 and signed the lease with the Township for the new building at 62 Yonge Street North.
He recently stepped down from the Board after more than 40 years of service.
To honour his commitment to the community, the new building will be named the “Michael Stone Building”.
