The Lake at Blue Mountains has partnered with the Georgian Triangle Humane Society to host a Regional Pet Pantry Drive.
The main goal of the event is to keep families together, with their pets, especially during times of high stress.
All this week, a food and supply drive will take place from 10-2 on the property of The Lake at Blue Mountains, hosted by staff and volunteers of the GTHS.
You can support the Pet Pantry Drive by making a cash donation or a gift of unopened dog or cat food.
You can also reference the GTHS wishlist on GTHS.ca for unique supplies. Stop by The Lake at Blue Mountains at 209791 Highway 26, between 10 a.m. and noon, during the week of Sept. 20 – 24th, 2021. Look for the GTHS van where volunteer and staff will be there to help.
“Pets are part of our families, and we don’t want to let financial constraints separate families due to lack of access to pet food or basic vet care,” explains Don Macintosh, co-owner of The Lake at Blue Mountains.
The GTHS Pet Support Services Program works to keep families together with their loving pets in times of financial crisis or personal emergency. Every year the Georgian Triangle Humane Society receives requests for help from a growing number of pet owners. This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the need in the community has been on the incline.
Surrendering a pet during crisis can mean pet owners are losing their loving companion during a period of their life when they need them the most. The Pet Support Services Program aims to keep families together. The guiding vision for the program is that pets keep us healthy and are an essential part of our emotional health and wellbeing.
“We know that folks prioritize food for their pets over nutrition for themselves and our pet food bank works to ensure that support is here when it is needed the most,” said Sonya Reichel, executive director, Georgian Triangle Humane Society. “We are incredibly grateful to our community for working together with us to keep pets and people healthy. Thank you Don and Dan for your support in providing families and pets in our region. This important work could not be done without the support of our partners.”
Without any form of government funding, the GTHS is supported by generous businesses and individuals like The Lake at Blue Mountains, to fund essential programs designed for the wellbeing of people and pets.
