Rather than shuttering, a Goderich business is staying open, and staying in the family.
Cathy Anstett has purchased Anstett Jewellers from her brothers Michael and David, a business founded by her parents John and Irene in 1950, in Clinton.
Since opening, Anstett Jewellers expanded to Walkerton, Exeter, Seaforth, Kincardine, and London.
While Michael and David were looking at the future of the business, Cathy says it was suggested she take over ownership.
“Literally, it came together in weeks,” Anstett says.
“I really feel our parents are behind all of this.”
As far as what is next for Anstett Jewellers, the new owner says the company will have a greater online presence.
“E-commerce, social media… really offering that e-commerce platform to make it easier for people who are interested in purchasing that way.”
Anstett says the Goderich location of Anstett Jewellers will continue to operate, while a new promotion is in the works to recognize those who have purchased pieces from the company over their 71 years in operation.
