The Toronto Blue Jays are off today and down to their final 16 games of the season.
The Jays schedule has almost half of their remaining games, 7, against the Minnesota Twins who are last in the Central Division plus 3 each against Tampa Bay, the Yankees and Baltimore.
Let’s assume that Toronto wins 4 or 5 out of 7 against the Twins, sweeps Baltimore and plays .500 against the Yankees and Rays….that equates to a 92 win season.
And assuming the Jays hit 92 wins, will it be enough to qualify for a Wild Card spot in the American League ?
Regardless, the latest stretch of Toronto baseball has been very compelling
Locally, a fractured softball season has a couple of events ahead this weekend.
In Tara, the Twins are hosting a 3 day tournament starting tomorrow night at 7 pm
Eight teams will compete at the tournament with the Championship Game set for Sunday afternoon at 3 pm.
There will also be an OASA U14 game as part of the event.
Meanwhile in Arthur this weekend, the Intercounty Fastball League Championship Tournament begins Saturday morning and climaxes with the final on Sunday.
Seven teams, including the Dundalk Smoke, will be among the teams competing in Arthur this weekend
