Decommissioning of the Gorrie Dam is now complete.
Part of the earthen berm to the south of the dam failed in June of 2017, and conservation officials decided dam’s decommissioning was the best path forward.
While work to decommission the dam has completed, officials say remediation work will continue through the Fall.
Turf grass and wildflower meadows will be seeded in designated areas.
A variety of trees and shrub species will also be planted to create tree cover and shade areas around the picnic shelter.
