Kincardine has lifted its pandemic state of emergency.
The Municipality says in a release, that became effective as of Thursday September 9th.
The State of Emergency had been in place since March 24th 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The municipality says a state of emergency takes place under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
Mayor Gerry Glover says in a statement, “The declared State of Emergency gave the municipality tools and resources to address the unprecedented nature of the challenges posed by the pandemic,” adding, “We’ve seen positive signs in the fight against COVID-19 in our area – including a low incidence of new cases and high vaccination rates which let’s us to take this step towards a new normal.”
Currently, about 77 per cent of the eligible population (12+) in Grey and Bruce Counties are fully vaccinated. Across the Province, 78% of eligible (12+) Ontarians are fully vaccinated.
The municipality notes, despite taking this step, public health measures remain in place and they encourage the community to continue to practice physical distancing, wear masks, and stay home when experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
