It’s back to school today for hundreds of thousands of students across the province.
That means school buses will be back on the roads and motorists are being reminded of the rules.
When approaching a school bus with its lights flashing, drivers must stop and cannot start moving until the red lights have stopped flashing, the stop arm has been retracted and the bus has started to move.
If you fail to do so, you could be fined 400-2000 dollars and six demerit points, while for each following offence, the fines increase to 1000-4000 dollars with possible jail time.
Students and staff will have to complete a daily COVID-19 screening questionnaire before attending school, and all students from kindergarten to grade 12 will be required to wear a mask while indoors.
Enhanced cleaning will be taking place in all common areas and hand sanitizer will be provided in each classroom.
