The Township of Ramara’s Building Services Department has modernized its service delivery that allows users to submit their building and septic permit applications online.
The Township has implemented Cloudpermit, an e-permitting portal that enables residents to apply for, check the status and book inspections for their permits from anywhere, at any time. Cloudpermit gives homeowners and industry professionals the ability to submit applications online using a convenient and accessible platform.
“Through the pandemic, the Township boosted its efforts to create digital service offerings that users can access from the comfort and safety of their homes,” explains Mayor Basil Clarke. “Providing more convenience and new service options for customers allows for the Township to develop more efficient processes and allow for faster turnaround times.”
The cloud-based permit software is a one-stop shop for homeowners and contractors looking to build in Ramara. It provides each user with an easy-to-use portal for application submissions, inspections, and approvals. As well, users can communicate with the department easily with their chat function.
“Over the past two months, the building services department has leveraged technology to help digitize its processes and transition to a paperless department, explains Walied Zekry, Chief Building Official for the Township of Ramara. “Adopting an e-permitting solution was instrumental in moving the Township forward and providing a digital benefit to our community that is simple, convenient and easy to use.”
For residents in the area who may not connect online, there will be a computer available at the Township office and the Ramara Township Public Library, at both the Ramara Centre and Brechin location. Residents will easily ease themselves into the software by asking staff, viewing the how-to video, and following the how-to documents.
Residents can reach out to staff at building@ramara.ca and visit the website at ramara.ca/building. If you have a paper-based application, you can book an appointment to meeting the Building Services staff for help with the online e-permitting portal.
