A gun has been seized by police in downtown Barrie.
Police responded to a call about an altercation on Dunlop Street West on Saturday night, which reportedly involved one man who appeared to be carrying a firearm.
Police say they found an 18-year-old man near Mulcaster and Dunlop Streets, carrying a loaded handgun, cash and drugs.
An 18-year-old Pickering male was arrested and is facing multiple weapons and drug-related charges including:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of CDSA for Purpose of Trafficking
- The male is being held for a bail hearing.
Police say CCTV cameras located throughout downtown were instrumental in allowing officers who were in the area to quickly locate the suspect after receiving the initial report.
