Jesse Walker of Owen Sound is once again running to raise money for childhood cancer research.
Walker, who had a cancerous tumour removed 3 years ago at age 14, will run a marathon on Saturday August 28th.
A year ago, Walker ran a half marathon that shattered his expectations in terms of funds raised.
Walker says, “I kind of wanted to do something for childhood cancer after I beat it. I figured, other kids need some inspiration to get through that because I, for sure needed other people’s inspiration.”
In 2020, Walker had a modest goal of raising $ 1,000 ….He ended up generating $ 28,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society
This year, Walker will run a full Marathon.
The run will start in Shallow Lake and weave it’s way east, then north to Wolseley and eventually will head south to his family home on Balmy Beach Road in Georgian Bluffs.
