Clearview Township is hosting a public meeting today to get input on a bylaw that would dictate the rules for industrial-scale cannabis cultivation and production facilities.
It will review two different sides of Cannabis in Clearview Township, the By-law regulating cannabis cultivation and production facilities, and a recommendation to issue a survey gauging public interest on allowing cannabis retail operations throughout the Township.
A public meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on August 23, 2021, to inform the public and allow them to comment on proposed regulations of Zoning By-law 06-54, setting out permitted land uses and development standards for cannabis cultivation and cannabis production facilities in Clearview.
A separate item up for discussion is the recommendation being brought forward by Clearview’s Economic Development Advisory Committee, requesting that Council survey residents to gauge public opinion on opting into the province of Ontario’s cannabis retail program.
In 2019, Council, after consultation with the public, decided to opt-out of the retail cannabis program with the option of opting back in at any time. If Council had opted in, they would have been unable to opt-out in the future. The proposed survey would then invite public input at that time.
The August 23, 2021 meeting of Clearview Council will be held virtually and live-streamed on Clearview’s YouTube channel.
