Mandatory vaccinations will be requiring for some health staff in the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance.
The HPHA’s Board of Directors have approved mandatory vaccines for staff, physicians, and midwives working within their hospitals and health centres.
According to officials, “88% of staff, 93% physicians and 89% of midwives have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 83%, 92% and 81% respectively having received both doses,” as of August 11th.
“All unvaccinated HPHA team members are required to submit signed confirmation of their current intention to decline to be vaccinated,” the HPHA says.
Officials say unvaccinated team members will be required to take part in mandatory COVID-19 education, and undergo regular COVID-19 testing, to be introduced later in the summer, prior to scheduled shifts.
“With the Delta Variant becoming more prevalent, and the possibility of a Wave 4, we feel all responsible strategies need to be introduced to increase vaccine rates,” adds Andrew Williams, HPHA President & CEO.
