Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

Week 2 of the Canadian Football League season commences tonight with the B.C. Lions meeting the Stampeders in Calgary.
Both teams are 0 & 1 after the Lions lost at Regina while the Stampeders lost at home to the Argos.
Along with Toronto and the Roughriders both Ottawa and Winnipeg were week 1 winners.
The big game, for this early in the season, is tomorrow night, when the defending Grey Cup Champion Blue Bombers host the Argos in Winnipeg.
Also on the go this week, starting Saturday and running for 8 days, is the 75th International Softball Congress Championships in Iowa.
I’m sure this event is somewhat bittersweet for the good folks in Kitchener-Waterloo.
Yes, they’ll be rooting for the Hallman Twins who will play their first game Sunday.
But, until the pandemic torpedoed so many activities, the 75th anniversary was to be conducted at the Hallman Ball Yard in Kitchener.
As a result, the Canadian content for this is year’s ISC will be considerably lighter with just the Twins and Hill United as recognizable names from north of the border.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
