Owen Sound Police have charged a 61-year-old man with numerous offences after he crashed his vehicle into a downtown storefront and was allegedly found in possession of several bags of narcotics.
Emergency crews were called to the area of 10th Street and 2nd Avenue East around 3:10 p.m. on Sunday afternoon after an SUV struck a commercial property.
City Police say the vehicle had been travelling south on 2nd Avenue East when the driver lost control and hit the building — the Sydenham Denture Clinic location near the intersection.
The vehicle and the building sustained significant damage.
According to police, the driver was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Police say officers also seized multiple bags of what is believed to be cocaine during their investigation.
A 61-year-old Owen Sound man, who has not been identified by police, faces charges of careless driving and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Police say the accused will appear in court next month.
