An investigation has concluded following the discovery of human bones in the area of St. James Cemetery in Springwater Twp.
The cemetery is located at 572 Penetanguishene Road – the discovery was made on August 1st.
Shortly before 9 pm that day, Orillia OPP attended the cemetery after a bone, suspected to be human, was discovered by a dog being exercised in a field nearby.
The bone was determined by a Forensic Anthropologist from the Centre of Forensic Sciences to be human.
Then police say a second human bone was found. Both were determined to be historical in nature.
The matter has now been turned over to the Bereavement Authority of Ontario.
Police activity in the area has concluded and there is no threat to public safety.
