Weather researchers have confirmed a weak tornado touched down in Bayfield during a recent weather event.
In a social media post, the Northern Tornadoes Project says an EF0 tornado touched down around 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 24th near the Bluewater town.
A tornado warning was issued that evening by Environment Canada for sections of the Lake Huron shoreline covering Huron and Bruce counties.
According to the NTP report, isolated weak tree damage was found during ground and drone surveys.
They estimate the maximum wind speeds of the tornado at 90 kilometres an hour.
A tornado was also reported around the same time in Thornbury, along with a weak EF0 downburst in Clarksburg.
