Owen Sound Majors To Hit The Floor
Major Series Lacrosse announced a return to action via the MSL Classic.
The Classic will feature 5 teams including the Owen Sound Major entry.
Peterborough has opted not to participate
The event will be conducted at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre beginning July 27th, and run through August 26th.
MSL Release
After careful consideration, Major Series Lacrosse is pleased to announce that it will return to action with the MSL Classic.
The MSL Classic will feature the Brooklin Lacrosse Club, Coburg Kodiaks, Owen Sound, Oakville Rock and Six Nations Chiefs. It will take place at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre beginning July 27, and extend to August 26.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be playing lacrosse of some kind in 2021,” MSL commissioner Doug Luey said. “This isn’t about a Mann Cup. The aim of the MSL Classic is all about preserving our game. We have been away officially for two seasons now and wanted to do what we could to get our present and future players back on the floor. Our players and devoted fans deserve that.”
Teams will combine veteran and younger players into their respective lineups. It will be a great opportunity for those veteran players to have an opportunity to get back on the floor, while having the chance to mentor some of the young, up-and-coming talent.
“We are really looking forward to watching the protected and selected players from the previous two entry drafts that we have not been able to see play,” Luey said. “It really is a unique opportunity and the team’s are just as excited to get going. This is also a reminder for the youth that MSL is a stepping stone to get that Olympic dream.”
The MSL Classic will feature veteran officials, and a number of trial rules, with the hope of a vision to unify all lacrosse leagues’ rules of play. Fans will be able to watch games in person or online. The plan is to stream games, with a schedule for that to be released later this week. Fans also have the opportunity to attend games at the world-class TRAC facility. Admission is $10 adults, $5 for students and seniors.
“We hope lacrosse fans are excited as we are about this,” Luey said. “We know that MSL certainly is.”
In the coming days MSL will release its schedule, streaming details and how to attend games live.

Attack Announce Pre-Season Schedule & New Training Camp Start Date
The Ontario Hockey League announced their 2021 Pre-Season Schedule and new start date for 2021 training camps on Wednesday. The Attack will now open training camp on August 30, and will play five pre-season games throughout September and early October against the Barrie Colts, North Bay Battalion and Sudbury Wolves.
The OHL originally announced in May training camp would open on September 4, but has now moved that date up to August 30. This change will allow the Attack to hold its traditional week-long training camp featuring two days of rookie camp (August 30-31) and three days of main camp (September 1-3) culminating with the annual Red/White game on September 3 at 6pm.
The Attack will then open their five-game pre-season schedule with a traditional labour day matchup with their highway 26 rivals the Barrie Colts in Barrie. The Bears will remain on the road for their next two games heading to North Bay for a matinee game on September 18 and to Sudbury on September 24th for a 7:05pm start. The Attack will finish up their pre-season schedule with a pair of games at the Bayshore on September 25 against the Barrie Colts at 7pm and October 2 against the North Bay Battalion at 2pm.
The Attack will make an announcement regarding how fans can attend training camp at the Bayshore and when pre-season tickets will be put on sale closer to the start of training camp.

Of the 18 invited, 11 were selected in the 2020 NHL Draft while six hope to hear their names called at this coming weekend’s 2021 NHL Draft and one, Shane Wright, is eligible in 2022.
Hockey Canada also announced it will work with an experienced coaching staff to guide Canada’s National Junior Team through the 2021-22 season, culminating with the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alta., in December and January.
