Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” ….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

The OLG Women’s Driving Championship is set for this weekend.
The first set of 5 races in the Championship will be conducted Saturday afternoon at Hanover Raceway as part of their card and then the second set of 5 races in the 10 race series will be run the following day at Dresden Raceway.
This provincial driving championship has attracted a lot of attention both from race fans and media.
It’s notable that the concept has been developed at the grassroots level, in that both Hanover & Dresden are not huge tracks compared to some others, yet it’s not hard to visualize this Championship evolving into something very big at both the provincial and national level.
Along with the action on the track, both dates will feature significant fundraisers adjacent to the Championship which are being highly supported by the 8 ladies competing for the title
At Hanover, the Canadian Cancer Society through cervical cancer research will be aided while the Dresden card will support ” Harness The Hope “.
As mentioned there are 8 ladies scheduled to compete over the 10 race Championship.
Making a guess, I’d think Natasha Day and Julie Walker who are extremely familiar with Hanover Raceway would have the early leg up on the opening day, but that remains to be seen.
Post time at Hanover Saturday, with an increased capacity to more than 600, is 1:30 pm
Sunday at Dresden, post time is 1 pm
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
