South Bruce OPP say a 38 year old man has died at Port Elgin main beach.
Police say the man, who was from Burlington was paddleboarding late Monday morning (July 12th) when he fell off the board.
According to OPP, witnesses say he was in deep water beyond the marked swimming area and appeared to be struggling.
Some bystanders immediately took action and pulled the man back onto shore where life-saving measures were performed.
South Bruce OPP, Saugeen Shores Police Service, Saugeen Shores Fire Department and Bruce County Paramedics.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Police say his identity is being withheld at the request of the family.
OPP are thanking those people for their help yesterday and remind everyone that life jackets are a requirement when paddleboarding.
