Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

These are exciting days for the various racing facilities in our region who will be open with fans in attendance this weekend.
Hanover Raceway will be the first off the mark with a full card of harness racing tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 pm.
The government decree this week allows Hanover to admit 317 fans for the card tomorrow which represents 25 % of their capacity at the track.
Of course you could argue that the Hanover Homecoming some years ago drew 18-20,000 people, so 25 % of that would equate to 5,000 people……
However, I’m certain the folks at Hanover Raceway are happy to simply welcome people back to the Grey County Oval.
You can attend the races by registering at register.hanoverraceway.com, but my suspicion is the 317 spaces will be snapped up quickly.
In auto racing, both Full Throttle Motor Speedway and Sauble Speedway have back to back cards Saturday and Sunday nights this weekend.
At Sauble Speedway, they too can have 25 % capacity which means they’re permitted to admit 1,250 fans.
Sauble Speedway attempted on-line registration but based on Internet availability in their region, they elected to go with a somewhat ” old school ” format of having a monitor at the road gate simply tabulate the cars coming into the track and then closing the gate once they hit the 1,250 fan mark.
It’s not perfect in any of the scenarios, but it is a significant step forward one that hopefully leads to full capacity at those venues sooner rather than later.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
