More than 500 radio stations from broadcasters across Canada are uniting for a full day of programming dedicated to amplifying and elevating Indigenous voices with A Day to Listen.
In partnership with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF), the day is dedicated to sharing stories from Indigenous leaders, residential school survivors, elders, musicians, and teachers throughout the day until 6 o’clock tonight.
The mission of the fund is to create a pathway towards reconciliation, and to improve the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all Canadians.
The collaboration follows the public announcement that the remains of 215 children were buried at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, and another 751 unmarked graves were found at a former residential school in Saskatchewan.
Over 150,000 children were taken away to residential schools and thousands never returned home.
Today, you can text DWF to 20222 to donate $10 to the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund!
