32 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Grey Bruce Thursday.
15 residents at Saugeen First Nation tested positive where as of Wednesday’s report there were 44 known active cases. Chief Lester Anoquot said late Wednesday that number is now 71.
Meanwhile, five Owen Sound residents tested positive along with four in Saugeen Shores, two in Arran-Elderslie, two in The Blue Mountains, and one in Hanover, Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine and Southgate.
The Health Unit says with 15 more resolved cases, there are 157 active cases in the region.
There are 286 active high-risk contacts associated with the region’s cases.
14 confirmed cases are hospitalized in Grey Bruce due to COVID-19 and two local people have been transferred to hospitals outside of Grey Bruce.
Over the course of the pandemic eight death have been linked to the virus in the region.
16,580 COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the past seven days.
154,026 total doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey and Bruce to date.
The Health Unit says due to the recent increase in cases, the COVID-19 assessment centre in Owen Sound will be open on Canada Day.
