Owen Sound Police are looking for help in identifying two suspects in the recent vandalism of the rainbow crosswalk on 8th Street East, and have released video surveillance footage of the incident.
The footage shows what appears to be two males approaching the rainbow crosswalk at 1:51 a.m. on June 20. They are holding what looks like spray paint cans and run quickly across 8th Street while tagging the crosswalk, then appear to continue south.
Police were notified of the vandalism by a citizen early Sunday morning and attended the scene.
The Owen Sound Public Works Department removed two wavy black lines that were painted on. Faint outlines of the vandalism are still visible.
The incident happened only a few days after city’s first rainbow crosswalk was officially unveiled, on June 17.
Anyone with information to help identify the two suspects is asked to call Owen Sound Police or Crime Stoppers.
