Owen Sound Police say a 26-year-old man was fined $880 for allegedly violating an order to isolate after a positive Covid test.
City Police say a male from Owen Sound was found to be outside his residence after being directed by the Grey Bruce Health Unit to self isolate at home earlier in the week.
Police say the 26-year-old was found to be outside his home for “a non-essential reason”.
“Information was obtained that he had been repeatedly and blatantly disregarding his order to isolate,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
The male was issued an offence notice for failing to comply with a Section 22 order under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, which carries an $880 fine.
In April, Grey Bruce’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra issued a class order to all persons residing or present in the two counties to isolate at home if: identified as a person diagnosed with Covid, have signs and symptoms of Covid and are awaiting the results of a test, have reasonable grounds to believe they have one or more symptoms, are a close contact of a person with Covid or have been directed to self-isolated by the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
