More unmarked graves have been found at the site of a former residential school in Canada.
The Cowessess First Nation says hundreds of unmarked graves have been discovered at the site of the former Marieval Indian Residential School.
It was located about 140 kilometres east of Regina and was founded in the 1890s by Catholic missionaries.
The group says, “The number of unmarked graves will be the most significantly substantial to date in Canada.”
The remains of 215 children were also discovered last month at a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C…
More details will be released at a press conference later this morning (11am EST).
The news that hundreds of unmarked graves have been found in Cowessess First Nation is absolutely tragic, but not surprising.
I urge all Canadians to stand with First Nations in this extremely difficult and emotional time. https://t.co/8SHEevtk71

“The number of unmarked graves will be the most significantly substantial to date in Canada.” That would suggest it exceeds the 215 remains found at former residential school near Kamloops, which prompted grieving. #MarievalResidentialSchool https://t.co/eBqzSl1YXy
