The Grey Bruce Health Unit says a current Covid outbreak associated with a rooming house in Hanover is the Delta variant.
There are currently 25 cases and 38 high-risk contacts associated with this outbreak.
The Health Unit says while more confirmations of the variant are expected, there is currently one Delta case identified in a recovered case in Grey Bruce.
Public Health says the Delta variant is considered a variant of concern as it is more transmissible.
“Both first and two-dose vaccinations are effective in reducing the hospitalization rates from the Delta variant,” the Health Unit explains.
Currently, no Grey Bruce residents are hospitalized locally due to Covid. Two people are being treated outside the region.
