The OPP say a shoplifting incident has helped solve a convenience store robbery in Midland.
Police say a man who claimed to be armed robbed a store on William Street early Sunday morning and about 12 hours later, they were called about a shoplifter at a store on County Road 93.
Through scene investigation and digital imagery the suspect was identified as being responsible for both occurrences and was arrested and located by officers on patrol in the Third Street and Hugel Avenue, Midland area at 9:04 p.m. June 13, 2021.
Police say 25 year old Nicholas Banks of Midland has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal offences:
- Robbery with Weapon
- Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
The accused was held for a virtual bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on July 22, 2021.
