Owen Sound continues to see a plethora of development activity.
According to a report by the city’s building department, 34 permits were issued in May for a total construction value of $4.19-million.
This compares to 14 building permits during the same month in 2020, valued at just over $1.9-million. Permit fees collected by the city in May are little changed from last year, at just over $9,000.
Among the major permits issued by the city last month are three new single homes, alterations to Hasty Mart on 16th Street East to allow for a new take-out pizza restaurant and upgrades to the Bayshore Community Centre for washroom and accessibility improvements.
Owen Sound’s year-to-date construction value is over $21-million, up significantly from $5.1-million during the same period last year.
The city has collected more than $210,000 in building fees through the end of May, up from just over $46,000 during the first five months of 2020.
