Sometimes smaller is better and it could be happening in South Bruce Peninsula.
Council is expected to pass a bylaw at its next regular meeting that will allow for “tiny homes” to be built in the community.
Mayor Janice Jackson says the bylaw will reduce the minimum square footage of homes in the municipality.
Right now, the smallest home is around 1,100 square feet but the new bylaw will allow homes that may be around 300 to 500 square feet and therefore, more affordable as well.
She says there’s lots of parcels of land in the Wiarton area where perhaps tiny home subdivisions can be constructed.
The bylaw will be considered at the Tuesday, June 15th regular council meeting.
According to Wikipedia, “The tiny-house movement is an architectural and social movement that advocates for downsizing living spaces, simplifying, and essentially ‘living with less.'”
