The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board says it’s received approval from the provincial government to tender an addition to St. Anthony’s School in Kincardine.
According to a release from the school board, the addition will cost $10.7-million and create four new childcare rooms, a new gymnasium, bus route, parking and office.
The board says it will allow for 190 elementary student spaces and 78 new licenced childcare spaces at the Catholic school in Kincardine.
“This investment will provide a quality learning environment and state-of-the-art facility for the students and staff while also providing new spaces and rooms for pre-schoolers,” Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says in a statement.
Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board chair Lori Di Castri says in a statement St. Anthony’s School has been over capacity for a number of years.
The board’s Director of Education Gary O’Donnell says the project will position St Anthony’s to support the growing community in Kincardine and ensure the board has an updated and modern facility to provide space for a quality Catholic education for years to come.
No immediate word from the school board on expected timelines for the construction project.
