$55,000 in funding for Healthy Community initiatives has been announced for Barrie-Springwater-Oro Medonte.
The money’s being awarded to Copeland Forest Friends Association, Ontario Parents Advocating for Children with Cancer; and the Barrie Public Art Committee.
Barrie-Springwater-Oro Medonte MP Doug Shipley says the local community has endured many hardships during the pandemic and that the funding will support community projects as they continue to adapt to serve the area.
“Our community has been extremely resourceful and resilient, and this funding will support organizations as they respond to the longer-lasting challenges arising from the pandemic,” he says.
The funding was awarded as part of the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative, which will provide up to $31 million in existing federal funding to support communities as they develop new ways to adapt spaces and services to respond to immediate and ongoing needs arising from COVID-19 over the next two years.
