The Huron-Bruce Provincial Liberal Party is set to hold a nomination meeting Saturday morning.
Shelley Blackmore is expected to be acclaimed at the virtual meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. (June 5)
Ontario Liberal Party leader Steven Del Duca is scheduled to be there and party members in the riding are encouraged to join the meeting.
A release says, “After an extensive candidate search throughout the Huron-Bruce riding, the field of potential candidates has been narrowed to a single nomination.”
The party says, “Blackmore brings a wealth of experience, both in the education field–where she spent over 30 years as first a teacher, then a principal—and in community service and volunteering.”
Blackmore says in a statement, “I am very excited to be taking part in the nomination process,” adding, “With all that’s been going on in Ontario, the time is right to rebuild a sense of trust in Huron and Bruce counties. I’m looking forward to the road
ahead, connecting with everyone in the region, and representing our communities in Queen’s Park.”
The incumbent MPP in Huron-Bruce is Progressive Conservative Lisa Thompson. She has been the MPP for the riding since 2011 and has been acclaimed at the candidate for that party in the 2022 election.
