Get ready for a bit of a heat wave.
Record-breaking heat is expected to begin this weekend and last for several days, when the temperature will hover around 30 degrees Celsius and that’s not including the humidex.
After a chance of showers today, the weather network says some places may end up seeing the earliest June heatwave on record, as daytime highs soar above 30°C.
It says with the humidex, it could feel closer to 40 by next week and will be rain-free until mid-next week.
Forecasters say some relief from the heat and humidity is possible at the end of next week, but there is still some uncertainty as to exactly when the cold front will come through.
The forecast includes sunshine and above seasonal temperatures until at least mid next week, so be prepared to drink plenty of water and make plans to cool off somewhere.
During the extreme temperature event:
- plan ahead and modify your activities;
- listen to local weather reports and regularly check for weather alerts;
- dress for the temperature;
- take shelter or rest indoors; and
- check on family, friends, and neighbours.

An early-season, six-day heatwave begins this weekend across parts of Ontario, so it's best to bring plenty of water, ample sunscreen, and shift rides to off-peak hours to keep cool. 🌡️ 💦
