Orillia Roads are going to have to wait a little while longer for a facelift.
The city’s annual road line painting program has been impacted by the pandemic, among other things.
Its pavement marking contractor says there is a delay in receiving supplies due to a shortage of road line paint.
That’s in addition to damage to factories caused by heavy winter storms earlier this year in the southern United States as well as COVID-19 restrictions and closures, which have affected the production of the raw materials used to produce the specialized road paint.
The supply shortage is anticipated to result in the annual road line painting program being delayed and scaled down for this year, which means there may be areas within the City that will be unpainted in 2021.
The City has prioritized major routes with highest vehicular traffic, such as West Street, Coldwater Road and Atherley Road, to be completed first once supplies are received.
The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with other factors, has impacted the City of Orillia’s annual road line painting program due to a raw materials shortage. Read the full news release here: https://t.co/d5vxqV2gno #orillia pic.twitter.com/2mN0zRj73D
