All proceeds from the derby will go to the Salvation Army Food Bank, Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Grey-Bruce, & Chapman House Hospice.
Auto Tracks Waiting
Among those waiting for updates and clarifications from the Ontario Government are the two auto racing tracks in our region; Full Throttle Motor Speedway at Varney & Sauble Speedway.
Sauble Speedway has already confirmed they won’t be running any race cards in June.
Full Throttle Motor Speedway believes they’ll have 3 days of practice session beginning June 18th followed by a race card on June 26th
Full Throttle is targeting a June 26th open with the hope that fans can attend the scheduled July 3rd card.
At Sauble Speedway, they hope to conduct a race card on July 3rd and the current belief is that at some point half capacity will be allowed for race fans.
Pickett Picked
Volleyball Canada announced the Indoor Men’s U21 team for 2021.
Jonny Pickett from Wiarton is among the athletes with the potential to represent Canada at the 2028 Olympic Games.
The Volleyball Canada program will run in Gatineau, Quebec, from July 5th to early October and will represent Canada at the FIVB U21 World Championships in Italy/Bulgaria September 23 to October 3.
Pickett’s younger brother, Daniel is also active, selected to Team Ontario beach and also scheduled to head to Windsor for the USport Indoor season.
Volleyball Canada Release
Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce the Indoor Men’s U21 team for 2021, which is comprised of athletes with the potential to represent Canada at the 2028 Olympic Games. The program will run in Gatineau, Quebec, from July 5 to early October.
“After a successful virtual training session last year, we are excited and ready to get to work in person in Gatineau,” said Ryan Marsden, men’s U21 head coach. “We have selected a very good group of athletes that can’t wait to represent our country. We appreciate all the support of those who made this program possible in 2021.”
This team will represent Canada at the FIVB U21 World Championships scheduled to take place in Italy/Bulgaria from September 23 to October 3.
“This group of athletes represents the future of the men’s program, and I congratulate the hard-working players and coaches who kept the momentum going during the pandemic,” said Julien Boucher, Volleyball Canada high performance director for indoor teams. “We’re looking forward to seeing them train and compete later this year.”
The program will be led by head coach Ryan Marsden and assisted by Ian Eibbitt and Gabriel deGroot.
