Owen Sound Police are advising residents of a bear sighting in a west side neighbourhood.
Around 6:30 a.m., officers responded to reports from residents of sighting of a small black bear in the neighbourhood near the escarpment.
Police say the bear was not acting in an aggressive manner and was last seen wandering into the bush area of the escarpment.
Police note it is not uncommon to have a bear sighting within the city and the animals will wander into the area looking for easily accessible food like bird feeders.
If you spot a bear, do not approach it and do not feed them, while also keeping any pets inside if you see a bear.
If the bear poses any immediate threat, call 911.
If bears are just wandering around and checking out garbage or knocking own bird feeders, residents can contact police or the Bear Wise reporting line.
