During the period of May 14 to May 27, 2021 the West Grey Police Service responded to 209 total calls for service.
Officers responded to 26 Traffic Complaints / Enforcements, 35 Police Assistance and 13 Suspicious Persons Complaints. Officers prevent Breach of the Peace at three calls and also provided assistance and de-escalation at 10 Mental Health Act calls.
Criminal Investigations and Street Crime Unit continue to investigate two Break and Enter occurrences that took place in the former Bentinck and Glenelg Townships, as well as two Bail Violations.
Victory Day Long weekend saw 1,109 vehicles stopped in R.I.D.E. spot checks. We are extremely pleased to announce that there were no impaired drivers encountered during this time, however 67 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act.
A happy ending for what could have been a disastrous situation. On May 22, 2021 an 87-year-old male went for a walk in the woods at dusk and became disorientated. After spending over 7 hours in the forest he was located safely, treated and released at the scene. West Grey Police thank the Ontario Provincial Police and Grey EMS/Paramedics for their assistance.
On May 15, 2021 a 56-year-old female from Dundalk, Ontario was arrested and charged with Possession of “Crystal Meth” following a traffic stop in Durham. The accused was processed and later released. She will appear in Walkerton Court in June.
On May 24, 2021 officers were called to an assault. Following an investigation an Arrest Warrant is being sought against a 29-year-old male from Chesley, Ontario.
On May 26, 2021 a 23-year-old male from Durham, Ontario was arrested and charged with Theft following yet another incident. The male is being held in custody – again, pending a Bail Hearing.

West Grey Police responded to 21 COVID 19 related calls for service the past week.
