Huntsville OPP has fined a person for not following quarantine rules.
The Government of Canada has put in place emergency measures to slow the introduction and spread of COVID-19 and variants of concern in Canada.
On entering Canada a person must quarantine for 14 days and monitor themselves for signs and symptoms. Compliance with the requirements is subject to verification and enforcement. One of the requirements is for a person to go directly to their place of quarantine without delay and stay there for the duration of their quarantine.
On May 27th, a Huntsville OPP officer conducted a quarantine compliance check on behalf of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
The officer found that the person subject to quarantine was not at home, (place of quarantine) and was out in the community.
He was fined $3,755 for failing to comply with an order prohibiting or subjecting to any condition the entry into Canada contrary to section 58 of the Quarantine Act.
