Will kids be heading back to class anytime soon?
There’s only about a month left of school until the summer break, but Ontario’s chief medical officer of health says a return to in-class learning is still possible.
Dr. David Williams said yesterday that he’d like to get students back in the classroom before the province starts its gradual reopening in mid-June.
He said most public health units have said they would support schools reopening with COVID-19 cases on the decline and he’s open to a possible regional approach.
Schools across the province have been closed to in-person learning since early- to mid-April and there have been several reports about the disastrous effects on children’s mental health.
Williams says a decision on schools will be made soon.
