
As the weather warms in Lambton Shores, two projects are getting underway.
The municipality will begin aerial insecticide spraying Tuesday to reduce numbers of the European gypsy moth.
Workers will focus their insecticide efforts around Grand Bend, Port Franks, and Ipperwash.
In the spring and summer of 2020, Port Franks and Grand Bend were overwhelmed with gypsy moth populations.
Conservation officials say the moths can quickly defoliate trees and shrubs, which can cause stress make trees susceptible to other diseases and stressors.
Construction work will also begin Tuesday along Main Street East in Grand Bend, prompting the road to be closed, starting at 6:00 p.m..
Reopening is scheduled for May 19th at 8:00 a.m..
