Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says we may still enjoy a ‘one dose summer’ if more Canadians get their first vaccination shots.
As of today, Trudeau says almost 50 percent of eligible adults in Canada have received at least one shot.
“By summer we’ll have enough vaccines so that every eligible Canadian will have gotten their first dose,” he said. “And by September as we’ve been saying for months we’ll have enough doses for every Canadian to be fully vaccinated.”
Cases are still too high now though and he says restrictions can’t be eased until they come way down.
Trudeau says we can have a summer where we invite others over for a BBQ, but another thing needs to happen before then – at least 75 percent of Canadians need to have received their first shots.
Trudeau hopes a ‘one-dose summer’ sets us up for a ‘two-dose fall’ when we can finally begin to think about going back to more normality.
