The Counties of Bruce, Grey and Huron are endorsing a program geared towards cleaner energy.
Resolutions have passed in each county that shows their support for the Nuclear Innovation Institute’s Clean Energy Frontier Program, according to a release.
The program advocates, raises awareness and supports the economic development towards net-zero and the use of clean energy.
Net-zero aims to use clean and energy efficient methods for generating power.
Led by Bruce Power, the program works with local communities, governments and industry stakeholders to move in a direction that fosters local clean energy advancements.
The release says the program will build on the work of the Nuclear Economic Development and Innovation Initiative, which is a joint project between Bruce Power and Bruce County, which saw more than 60 clean energy supply chain companies set up shop in the three counties.
Warden of Bruce County Janice Jackson says, “I am confident that, by working together, we will stake our claim as Canada’s Clean Energy Frontier.”
The release states, Bruce Power supplies 30 per cent of Ontario electricity in a clean nuclear power form, as well as operates as a supply chain for over 60 companies in he clean energy industry. The frontier program will leverage these advantages to create more opportunities for communities and provide leadership and action on other areas like the hydrogen economy, an electric-vehicle future and carbon offsets.
