Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) has a unique way for you to honour your mom on Mother’s Day and support the purchase of new breast imaging equipment.
In recognition of Mother’s Day and the work of their daughter, Dr. Sara Rask, Head of Medical Oncology in RVH’s cancer program, generous community-minded and proud RVH supporters Randy and Bryn Styles will match every gift made through this special campaign up to $10,000.
“Mammograms are essential to early detection of breast cancer. Part of early detection is having the most modern of equipment,” says Randy. “Early detection makes a significant difference to the challenges those with breast cancer may face. Please join me and my family by honouring Mothers on their special day by supporting breast imaging at RVH.”
RVH mammography equipment sees a lot of traffic with 85 tests performed a day. And with age and with so much use, all four mammography units now need to be replaced. With community support, RVH can invest in state-of-the-art breast imaging technology and avoid maintenance down time which occurs with older equipment.
“Life’s journey is too precious to put off something so important. I get regular mammogram exams because I am being proactive and care about the impact my life has on my loved ones,” says Lise McCourt, president of the RVH Auxiliary. “My grandmother died of breast cancer, my mother survived it and I, thankfully, have had healthy check-ups so far. Early detection can save lives.”
